The National Trust for Scotland (NTS) has issued a vow of thanks to supporters for their generosity after its fundraising appeal exceeded £3.4 million.
The charity established the Save our Scotland Appeal with aims of raising £2.5m to help keep the charity afloat.
A feared cash crisis began to emerge as the effects of the pandemic took hold.
NTS officials have now been left “overwhelmed” following an outpouring of support from across the globe.
Philip Long, chief executive of the organisation, said leaders were “overwhelmed” by the public’s generosity.
He said: “We asked our members, donors and the public to help us raise £2.5m to allow us to continue our crucial work in caring for and protecting Scotland’s built and natural heritage.
“They went much further than that and, to date, we have been blessed with contributions of £3.4m.
“Without this financial support, the future of the Trust would be extremely uncertain.”
The fund has helped steer the Trust out of an extremely financially challenging period.
The fundraiser coincides with a £3.8m bailout from the Scottish Government which has helped save almost 200 jobs across the charity, however, 230 redundancies are still expected to be made
Mr Long added: “We are overwhelmed, encouraged and extremely grateful for all the donations we have received.”
