A positive case of Covid-19 has been confirmed by ScotRail in Oban.
Councillors for the Argyll and Bute town said they were “not surprised” by the latest confirmation as Oban and the isles are experiencing a visitor boom “like the summer season”.
A ScotRail spokeswoman said: “We do have a confirmed case in Oban. We have arrangements in place to react and address any suspected or confirmed Covid-19 cases in the workplace including enhanced cleaning and sanitisation.”
She added: “The health and wellbeing of all staff and customers is paramount during these unprecedented times and we are taking every reasonable measure to ensure that we reduce the potential for anyone to be exposed to coronavirus and take action where they do occur.
“The railway will continue to play its part in helping the country through this crisis by providing a high level of cleanliness on board our trains and at stations, and by delivering a vital service for those tackling the pandemic.
Argyll and Bute depute provost Councillor Roddy McCuish, who has called for tougher restrictions on battling the virus, said: “This comes as no surprise, given the number of people travelling to Oban and onwards to the isles this weekend.”
