The accident happened on the A93 Braemar to Rattray road around 2.40pm yesterday. Police Scotland said the collision occurred near the Devil’s Elbow – once a notorious hair pin bend – near the summit of the Cairnwell Pass. The male motorcyclist, who is believed to be in his 60’s, was airlifted to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee but died a short time later. The road was closed in both directions while investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision took place. Meanwhile, another motorcyclist suffered minor injuries following a separate accident in Aberdeen. The man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary following a collision with a car on Denmore Road around 5.15pm. Thousands of motorcyclists from around the world have been on Scotland’s roads over the past few days for the annual Thunder in the Glens rally. The event, which drew to a close yesterday, was based around the Macdonald Resort in Aviemore and was the biggest to date.
