How long does it take to build Glasgow on Minescraft? A week? A month?
Computer fan Steven Browning has spent the last year and a half doing so, so we’re guessing it takes quite a while.
The 15-year-old Glasgow native has been working on the virtual version of the city since January 2013, and it’s looking good.
The first building he compiled was a block of flats on Peterhill Drive, part of the Red Road complex in the north-east of the city.
So far, work is under way on 293 buildings, 103 of them complete with interiors — and Steven doesn’t cut any corners during the construction.
The online architect uses original floor plans to copy the buildings and Google Earth to measure the height of external walls.
After completing Glasgow and its surrounding towns like Motherwell and Paisley, Steven intends to start work on Edinburgh — and hopefully he’ll give the north some attention too.
