Stormy conditions battered the north and north east this morning with a top wind speed of 122mph recorded.
Both Skye Bridge and Dornoch Bridge have been closed due to high winds with ferries travelling to the Hebrides and the west coast are also badly affected.
Gusts have reached as high as 122mph on the Cairngorm summit, 84mph in South Uist, 77mph in Tiree, and 74mph in Inverbervie.
Met Office issued a “be aware” for both wind and rain today and advised commuters to take care the roads.
In Aberdeen, a fallen tree on Broomhill Road kept tree surgeons busy at around 9.30am while they worked to clear the pavement.
No one was injured as a result of the incident.
