Weather experts have confirmed the remnants of Hurricane Gonzalo could hit the Western Highlands next week.
The Met Office has said there is a good chance the after-effects of the hurricane could cause stormy weather on exposed coastal regions and higher ground at the beginning of next week.
Speaking earlier today, a meteorologist from the organisation said the effects would mirror stormy weather often felt at this time of year – but would be unlikely to cause problems of the scale seen in last week’s floods.
He said: “There is still uncertainty over whether there will be an impact felt in the UK. If there is, it is likely to be Monday night or Tuesday.
“Even if it does have an impact, the most severe weather will be gales and heavy rain.
“By definition, autumn is a time of year where there’s some pleasant days and some bad days.”
