The session clerk of a United Free Church of Scotland congregation has been named as its next moderator.
Andrew Scott will take up the role of heading up the denomination’s general assembly in Perth next June.
The United Free Church of Scotland has around 2,800 members in 56 congregations across the country including Balintore in the Highlands, Aberdeen, Boddam in Aberdeenshire, Lossiemouth in Moray, Orkney and Shetland.
Mr Scott has been the session clerk at a church in Milngavie, near Glasgow, since 1985.
He has served as moderator of the presbytery of the west, is a past convener of the church and society committee and is vice-convener of the ministry committee.
