The crew of a west coast prawn boat are becoming internet sensations with their zany news and weather reports.
Hardy deckhands Frank Ronald, 36, and Bill Macfarlane, 43, strip to their underpants aboard the Caledonia to create spoof videos despite the freezing conditions.
They started off by making their own hilarious versions of popular music videos, but have recently diversified into providing news and weather reports.
The boat, owned by skipper Kenny Brown, sails out of Tarbert, Loch Fyne.
Far from being annoyed at his crew for their antics, Mr Brown, 47, has joined in the fun and starred in some of the videos.
Other crew members to join in recent productions include Craig Cunningham, 19, and Archi Mair, 16.
In the most popular production to date, Frank swings across the deck on a large buoy, pretending to be Miley Cyrus in Wrecking Ball. The hit has attracted more than 19,000 views on YouTube.
We’ve not been able to include the Miley Cyrus video on the P&J site due to it being a little too revealing, but instead we have got their own version of Avril Lavigne’s ‘Sk8er Boi’ – renamed by the trawlermen as ‘Skaterprawn’.
A tribute to recent smash hit pop song Timber, by US artist Pitbull featuring Kha, shows the men dancing on the roof of the shelter deck.
When the crew were hard at work on the high seas during last week’s “weather bomb” storm conditions, Bill appeared in his boxer shorts and wellies to bring a special report from “Caledonia News”, in which he warned the public not to travel.
But he added: “If for any crazy reason you do need to go out, make sure you wrap up warm, because it’s baltic out here.”
The reports were so poplar that they have been uploading daily updates on the All Things Tarbert Facebook page since.
They use upside down fish boxes for a news desk and a wooden spoon as a microphone. A tame seagull which follows the boat around has even taken part.
Frank, who edits the videos which are all filmed on his mobile phone, said: “The fishing is quiet at this time of year and this is just a bit of fun while on deck.
“Safety always comes first and we are careful not to do anything too silly, that might result in the Coastguard having to call the lifeboat out.”
When asked how they cope with the lack of clothes in the freezing conditions, Bill said: “We’re fishermen, we can handle it.”
He added: “You’d be surprised, it’s actually a really good way to meet women.”
The stars have their own Facebook page, Friday Fever, where their extensive collection of music videos can be viewed.
