Shoppers who were in Glasgow city centre speak of when the bin lorry lost control on Queen Street.
Melanie Greig told Sky News the lorry was knocking people down like a “pinball”, while David Lyon described it “ploughing” through people.
Ms Greig was standing just along the road and watched the drama unfold.
Pictures from the scene of the incident here.
She said: “The bin lorry just lost control, it went along the pavement knocking everyone down like pinballs.
“There was a baby in a buggy.
“It just continued knocking people down until it hit the building.
“It was quite horrific, very scary.”
She said the lorry travelled along the pavement for about 150-200 yards, and only stopped after it hit the Millennium Hotel.
“It just continued on the pavement, the only way it stopped was when it hit the wall.
“People were trying to run out the way.
“There were noises, bangs and screams.
“It’s just horrific.”
Another witness, David Lyon, was walking across the road with his girlfriend when he spotted the lorry coming towards them “out of control”.
He said: “I was quite literally walking across the road when I saw the garbage truck pretty much plough through people.
“Debris was getting thrown into the air.
“My first instinct was to pull my girlfriend out the way, it just happened so fast.”
