Police underwater search teams are scouring the waters near Ayr Harbour after a 59-year-old man went missing early this morning.
The 59-year-old taxi driver was last seen in his taxi at Ayr Harbour early this morning, but neither he nor his vehicle have been seen since.
Police and coastguard teams were called out just after 4am to search for traces of the missing man.
Coastguard vessels from Greenock have been combing the surface of the waters around the harbour, while police have confirmed that they currently have divers searching for both the driver and his taxi.
A police spokeswoman said: “Police are currently investigating a disappearance of a 59-year-old man who went missing in the early hours of this morning.
“An investigation unit which includes an underwater search team are currently searching the area for the man, who is considered vulnerable, and his vehicle.
“Anyone with information related to this incident is urged to call Police Scotland on 101.”
