Video footage has been released of a driver dramatically swerving up onto the pavement to dodge a head-on smash with an oncoming fire engine.
The fire engine was rushing to a call from a local school and as it sped through the streets of Bathgate the video shows drivers pulling over to let the engine past, however, one driver appeared not to notice the flashing lights.
The silver Vauxhall Zafira was heading straight for the fire engine until it swerved onto a stretch of pavement at the last minute to avoid the collision.
Fortunately the pavement was empty at the time so the driver mounted the kerb, drove up on the pavement, round a lamppost and back onto the road as the fire engine continued on its way to the fire at the primary school.
The video was filmed on a car dashcam by 25-year-old James Johnston and has been posted onto the Scotland’s Worst Drivers website.
