Tributes have been paid to Lydia Macdonald who was found dead in her flat in Perth on Wednesday.
It is believed the 28-year-old’s body had been in the property for five days alongside a toddler.
Police are treating the death as unexplained.
A spokeswoman for the force said: “Police Scotland attended an incident at Lickley Court, Perth yesterday at 8.10pm following the sudden death of a 28-year-old woman.
“The death is being treated as unexplained and inquiries are continuing.”
Her father Ron Macdonald told a national newspaper:“Lydia was a very funny and caring person who’d do anything for anyone. She was very happy-go-lucky and lived life to the full.
“She absolutely adored our son to bits and was a wonderful mum to him. He was her entire life. Everything she did was for him.”
Others took to social media to pay their respects to the mother.
Amy Coleman posted: “RIP Lydia. Thoughts are with all family and friends and especially the wee boy. Hope you are okay wee man, mummy and daddy will be looking down on you every day.”
Rikki Millar added: “RIP Lydia. Never met you but I met the wee man a few weeks ago and he is a wee champ. He will be well looked after.”
Laura Coyle added: “So, so sad. That poor baby, heartbreaking to think the wee soul wandering around the house for days alone and now to never see his mummy again.”
Mark Clephane wrote: “Another life taken far too soon. I just can’t get the wee man out my head. Poor little boy.”
