Pies and brandy. Not something your doctor will tell you is the secret to a long and healthy life.
But that’s what James Crombie says has helped him reach the grand old age of 106.
The former Royal Marine police officer – from Dunfermline, Fife – lives with his grand-daughter Coreen, 49, but travels to the nearby Jean Mackie Centre to spend time during the day.
He enjoys having a cup of tea, playing a miniature game of carpet bowls and listening to the speaker reading out what is in the newspaper every day.
He has been going to local bakers, Stephens, in Dunfermline, for over 90 years and claims they serve the “best pies around”.
The loyal Dunfermline Athletic supporter said: “I’ve been very lucky. I keep exercising by doing stretches with my arms and walking and I like a wee bit of brandy. Those are the secrets.
“Any time I seemed to be in a bit of trouble I got a lucky break.
