Claims a Westminster barmaid left her job a few weeks after allegedly being sworn at by a new SNP MP have been rubbished by a fellow member of staff.
The allegation that a rowdy member of the party’s new intake verbally abused the girl in her early 20s appeared in a magazine’s website this week.
But an employee at the Sports and Social club in the parliament, who asked not to be named, told the Press and Journal that the claim was a “load of rubbish”.
The staff member added: “Some of the girls who work here just come for a few months. No-one has left because of anything like that.”
The article ran under the headline: “The SNP run riot at Westminster – The SNP’s barmy army are wreaking havoc in SW1.”
It described the MPs quaffing champagne, eating out in an expensive London restaurant and dancing until the early hours.
But an SNP spokesman said: “SNP MPs are focused on representing their constituents at Westminster and presenting the real opposition to the Tories.
“This article clearly does not reflect that reality.”
SNP sources also said they were unaware of a document, referred to in the article, said to have been written by disgruntled aides criticising the behaviour of some of the MPs.
