Announcing the news on their official Facebook page, the band from Glasgow said she’d died peacefully. They said that they’d lost a friend and bandmate. “She was left in no doubt how much you all loved and appreciated her,” the band told fans. They also thanked followers for their support and “kind words” sent to both them and Carey. The band announced In August that the 33 year old would be taking time away to concentrate on fighting her illness. Consequently, Camera Obscura also decided to take time off from touring and cancelled planned gigs. At the time, the band apologised to fans, but said that their bandmate’s health needed to come first.
