The stormy weather is showing no signs of abating this week, with forecasters predicting the remnants of a hurricane will arrive on UK shores this weekend.
Hot on the heels of Storm Abigail is the tail-end of Hurricane Kate, which is expected to arrive at these shores this weekend.
The severe weather will work its way in from the north Atlantic, by which point it will have shed its tropical characteristics.
Winds and gusts of up to 55mph are predicted along the Scottish and Irish coasts.
The rain is not believed to be heavy enough to cause widespread flooding but winds are expected to interfere with both air and road travel.
Meanwhile, schools and roads have been closed and hundreds of homes have been hit by power cuts after Storm Abigail reached its peak in the Northern Isles and west coast of Scotland last night.
