A man heading out of a supermarket in Perth was beaten up after his car was hit by another vehicle early this afternoon.
Witnesses said they saw his Vauxhall rammed by a Land Rover before two men got out and beat him with a pole after arguing with him just after midday.
The man then refused help from members of the public before driving off from the Tesco store on Crieff Road.
His attackers are understood to have sped off shortly after.
A police spokeswoman said: “Officers attended near a filling station on Crieff Road, Perth, at about 12.05pm this afternoon following a report of a two-vehicle road traffic collision involving a Land Rover and a Vauxhall car.
“Officers are also making inquiries into a report of an assault in connection with the collision.
“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101.
