CLAN Cancer Support will hold its second Landmark Walk in September after raising more than £40,000 at last year’s event.
Walkers will have the opportunity to follow a 13 or 7.8-mile course, which will be a reverse of last year’s route.
The event will be held on Sunday, September 21.
The first Landmark Walk attracted more than 300 walkers and 300 marshals and volunteers.
Susan Crighton, CLAN’s fundraising manager, said: “Last year’s walk was a massive success with hundreds of people turning out to support the event – even the sun gave us a helping hand on the day.
“Last year we saw a phenomenal number of walkers and volunteers get involved and it would be great if they came back again this year and helped to spread the word about the walk even further.”
Money raised from the event, which is being sponsored by commercial law firm Bond Dickinson for the second year, will go towards CLAN’s provision of free support services to anyone affected by cancer in the north-east, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.
Registration is now open to walkers, with local companies Prodrill and Aberdeen Property Leasing already signing-up teams.
Volunteers are also being sought to assist in the running of the event.
Ms Crighton said: “We’re looking for individuals, groups of friends, businesses and companies to join us in the walk to help raise funds and awareness for CLAN.
“The feedback we received from walkers last year was extremely positive and I’m sure this year’s event will be no different – it really is shaping-up to be a fun and rewarding day for all those involved.”
