The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed a pile of tyres as large as 40 metres by 20m had gone on fire in Coaltown of Balgonie. Smoke from the giant fireball could be seen for miles as three appliances arrived at the scene. Crews at the site radioed in for help shortly before 9pm and three more engines were deployed to aid in the effort. It is understood that nobody has been hurt in the incident.
