Young Scottish footballer Islam Feruz has had a warrant issued for his arrest after he failed to turn up for a court appearance.
The 20-year-old Chelsea forward faces trial for allegedly driving an £80,000 Porsche while banned but he failed to appear at court in Glasgow earlier today.
His lawyer lodged a motion to adjourn the trial but this was refused and the court granted a warrant for his arrest.
Prosecutors also allege Feruz attempted to pervert the course of justice by providing a false name when asked for his details when officers stopped him in September last year.
The 20-year-old who joined the Stamford Bridge club from Celtic as a 16-year-old but has failed to live up to his early potential.
Since moving to Chelsea Feruz has spent unsuccessful loan spells at OFI Crete in Greece and Blackpool in the English Championship, as well as Hibs in the Scottish Championship.
Feruz has been capped by Scotland at every level from Under-16 up to Under-21 and last year declared his ambition to one day play for the Scotland first team despite previous suggestions that he would rather play for the country of his birth, Somalia.
