The incident involved a blue Fiat Doblo and took place at around 7.15am between Pitcaple and Chapel of Garioch. As a result engineers were sent to clear the line and make the bridge above safe. A spokesman for Network Rail said: “A vehicle struck the parapet of the bridge and knocked rubble onto the line. “We sent engineers to remove this and make the above bridge safe but we had to delay trains between Aberdeen and Inverness while this took place. “Engineers left the scene at around 9.45am and train services are restarting.” Police Scotland confirmed that nobody was injured as a result.
