A north-east woman has been banned from the roads after being caught at more than double the drink-drive limit.
Siobhan O’Neill appeared in Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday and admitted getting behind the wheel on the city’s Seaton Walk with 54 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
The legal limit is 22mg.
The 23-year-old, of Urquhart Road, Aberdeen, pleaded guilty to the offence on August 11 and was banned from holding a driving licence for a year.
She also admitted to driving her mother’s car without insurance, although she was admonished on that charge.
Fiscal depute Katie Begg stated that O’Neill had been “out in town”, prior to the incident.
Sentencing O’Neill, sheriff Christine McCrossan said: “Because you have pleaded guilty at (the) first opportunity, I am obliged to take account of that.
“In relation to driving whilst over the limit, I am going to impose a disqualification period of one year.”
O’Neill was fined £700, reduced from £1,000 for her early guilty plea.
