Speed limit to be slashed to 10mph overnight on section of A90

The speed limit on a section of the north-east’s busiest road will be reduced to 10mph for overnight resurfacing works next week.
The A90 Aberdeen to Dundee road between the B974 Marykirk-Laurencekirk junction and North Water Bridge will be subject to the restrictions overnight from Sunday until Friday.
The measures are required to allow for £197,000 worth of resurfacing improvements on the five-mile stretch of road, funded by Transport Scotland.
The 10mph will be in place from 7.30pm until 6.30am.
The section of the A90 is used by roughly 10,000 vehicles every day.
Last night Bear Scotland said the restrictions are required to keep both road workers and drivers safe.
Andy Thomson, spokesman for the organisation’s north-east unit, said: “These works will repair a number of cracks, potholes and other surfacing issues to help improve the general condition and safety of the road for motorists.
“We’ve scheduled these works to take place overnight to help minimise delays and limit the impact to motorists, however we encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
