A woman was taken to hospital after a one-car crash in Aberdeenshire yesterday.

One person had to be freed from the white Mazda2 after it crashed on the A93 Aberdeen to Braemar road, between Cambus O’May and Dinnet.

The accident happened just after 11am.

The woman, in her 40s, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment, though her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

One fire appliance from Ballater and another from Aboyne were called to the scene at about 11.15am.

A fire service spokeswoman said: “We were in attendance. We had fire service personnel who cut free a casualty from the vehicle using hydraulic gear.

“They are now in the hands of the ambulance. We had two units in attendance, one from Ballater and another from Aboyne. We received the call from the police.”

An ambulance spokeswoman said: “The call was placed by the police at 11.08am and we dispatched two ambulances.

“It was a female in her 40s in her car and a male. The male was treated at the scene but the female was taken to ARI, her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.”

A police spokeswoman said: “There was a one vehicle road traffic collision, it came into us just after 11am. The road was closed.”
