Train commuters in the north-east faced delays this morning due to a fault with the signalling system.
Several routes from Aberdeen’s train station were affected and were running at least 15 minutes behind schedules.
Routes affected included Aberdeen to Inverurie, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness as trains ran at a reduced speed. The disruption was initially expected until 8.30am but ScotRail has since announced it will take up to 10am to fix the problem.
At 9.15am, however, ScotRail tweeted that the signalling fault at Aberdeen had been fixed. It said services would return to normal but it may take some time.
ScotRail said on its website when the disruption began: “Our staff are onsite and working hard to rectify a fault with the signalling system, once we get an update from the ground we will pass the information on.
“We apologise for the delay to your journey today. To make a claim visit
