Complaints about a lack of connectivity of public transport services on the isle of Skye should be addressed by a new summer bus service.
Sleat resident Una MacLeod had pointed out that a lack of buses connecting with the ferry at Armadale had led to her having to book taxis for tourists.
David Summers, the Highland councillor chiefly involved with the awarding of public transport contracts, said: “From May 22 Stagecoach will run a summer service between Armadale, Portree and Kyle; and we intend to assist with local communities in developing a community transport provision.”
Mr Summers added that the council appreciated help from community councils in displaying timetables, and will continue to provide these.
At a recent meeting of Skye Connect Forum, transport issues were raised as a major concern.
Will summer bus service address transport problems on Skye?
