More misery is expected for motorists when an Aberdeen road closes to make way for AWPR works next week.
The Wester Ord to Blacktop route will close west of Baillieswell Road, Bieldside for two weeks from Monday to enable the contractor for the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/Balmedie to Tipperty project to undertake surfacing works.
It is anticipated that the road will close at 6am and it is expected to reopen around 10pm on Sunday, August 20.
Diversions will be sign-posted.
Road users intending to travel west along the route should travel via Baillieswells Road, North Deeside Road, Malcolm Road and the B979 Peterculter to Kirkton of Skene Road. The reverse journey should be used for those travelling east.
A Transport Scotland spokesman said: “The two-week closure, which is necessary to enable the contractor to safely carry out these works, has been timed to take place during the school summer holidays to minimise the impact it may have on road users.
“However, we would like to encourage those drivers who would consider using this route to plan their journey in advance. They should also give themselves additional travelling time so that they can reach their destination safely and on time.”
