AECC works prompts further Dyce road closures

Further delays are expected for Dyce motorists in the new year with another lane closure planned for the busy A96 road.

A contraflow will be put in place on the Aberdeen to Inverurie section of dual carriageway leading to Dyce Drive for up to three weeks next month.

Work on the £333 million Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre has led to either partial or full closures of the route since October between Wellheads Drive and the A96.

The westbound A96 carriageway will close from January 9, with the contraflow set up on the eastbound carriageway.

Conservative Dyce councillor Avril MacKenzie said: “The closures have been unavoidable for the works to take place.

“People will remember how bad the road was before the new airport road opened and queues all the way back to the Bucksburn police station were very common.

“I have to give praise to the contractor Robertsons as they have been very good in keeping local residents up to date on the closures.

“I am hoping that this will be the final closure on the route and it will reopen fully soon and there will be no more issues facing it.”
