Schools were closed, trains cancelled and roads flooded as the north-east was battered by severe weather reminiscent of the worst of Storm Frank.
There had been a short reprieve from the havoc wreaked by the Beast from the East last week but yesterday there was major disruption with commuters facing scenes similar to that in 2016.
Communities across the region were beginning to return to normal after much of the snow had cleared when the deluge began.
The Met Office has a yellow warning for snow and rain in place until 11pm tonight.

The A90 Aberdeen to Dundee road has experienced significant flooding near Laurencekirk and had to be reduced to one lane southbound to allow Transport Scotland to clear the surface.
Nearby Marykirk was completely cut off this afternoon after the A937 Laurencekirk to Montrose road was closed at the A90 junction, while the A92 Stonehaven to Montrose road and the C18K access route were closed.
Flood waters have caused problems for motorists travelling between Westhill and Peterculter on the B979, the Slug Road between Stonehaven and Banchory, the A96 Aberdeen to Inverness road at Inverurie and the Lang Stracht.
Meanwhile, in the city, the River Denburn burst its banks at the Den of Maidencraig Nature Reserve and drains on Old Skene Road, Kingswells has also overflowed.
And a car became trapped in flood waters under the railway bridge at Farburn Terrace, Dyce.
Meanwhile schools in the south and west of the region were shut early due to the worsening conditions.
Schools in Aboyne, Ballater, Finzean, Logie Coldstone, Strathdon and Towie were all shut at about 2pm to give pupils the chance to get home before roads became impassible.
And Scotrail cancelled services between Aberdeen and Inverness shortly before the evening rush hour meaning hundreds of people had to be put onto replacement bus services.
Stagecoach North Scotland was forced to terminate all of its services between the city and Braemar at Ballater after the 1.45pm trip.
And the Ballater to Aberdeen service was also scrapped due to the rapidly-deteriorating situation.
