A new flyover at Balmedie will open next week as the completion of the AWPR grows closer.
The grade-separated stretch of road will allow improved access between the A90, Balmedie and the B977 Echt to Balmedie road as motorists will no longer need to cross lanes of traffic.
It is scheduled to open on Monday morning, though lane closures will be in place from 8pm this evening in order to allow construction staff to make the finishing touches over the weekend.
Following this work, the existing junctions will be permanently closed and a contraflow will installed for two weeks while workers connect the new Balmedie-Tipperty trunk road to the existing A90.
The work is part of the larger AWPR project which is scheduled for completion later this year.
A Transport Scotland spokesman said: “When it opens, this new grade-separated junction will provide road users with a taste of what can be expected from the new trunk road as and when it opens to traffic.
“Journeys will be safer because there is no longer a requirement to turn right across oncoming traffic.
“As with any change to road layout, we strongly encourage road users to drive with more caution than usual.
“We would also kindly request that drivers observe all of the signage in place to enhance the safety of road users and road workers as works are continuing on the A90.”
The spokesman thanked the community for its patience during the works.
