Motorists are being warned to expect some delays as part of the Balmedie to Tipperty section of the AWPR opens next week.
The £745 million road is now expected to fully be in operation in late autumn with small sectional openings expected up to that point.
The 37-mile bypass was due to be completed earlier this year, however delays have been blamed on recent bad weather, as well as Storm Frank in 2015 and the liquidation in January of construction firm Carillion.
From Monday traffic will use the northbound dual carriageway of the new road between Balmedie and Tipperty.
Access to the existing A90 Aberdeen to Peterhead Road between Foveran and Balmedie will be via the new Newburgh and Tipperty Junctions.
It is not known how long this route will continue, but diversions will be signposted.
A Transport Scotland spokesman said: “Access to these new northbound lanes will give the contractor full access to the southbound carriageway to undertake works safely.
“As with any change to road layout, we strongly encourage road users to drive with more caution than usual. We would also kindly request that drivers observe all of the signage in place to enhance the safety of road users and road workers as works are continuing on the A90.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank the local community for their continued patience while these works continue.”
Traffic using the existing A90 between Balmedie and Foveran, and the new road’s southbound carriageway between Foveran and Tipperty, will be transferred onto the new Balmedie to Tipperty northbound carriageway.
This change to the road layout will enable the contractor to undertake the completion of the southbound carriageway and to connect the new sections of side road to the existing A90.
Diversions for local residents and businesses wishing to access the existing A90 between Balmedie and Foveran will be signposted.
