The train left Kings Cross in the UK capital for Aberdeen at 2pm. While it arrived at Montrose at 8.30pm, it did not depart further north as expected. Passengers were told that an assault had taken place, and staff were waiting for members of the British Transport Police. It left the station for Aberdeen at 9.31pm. After it began moving again, one passenger said the guard announced the hour-long delay was “due to an assault taking place”. Very sorry about this, Laura. The train is currently held while the BTP respond to a report of an assault on this service. ^BG — London North Eastern Railway (@LNER) July 22, 2018
