Trains between Inverness and Edinburgh have been disrupted after a person died on the railway line in Perthshire tonight. Scotrail announced that the line was closed at about 8.50pm, following the death along a stretch of track between Dunkeld and Birnam and Pitlochry. All trains passing through the area were stopped while police, who have not yet identified the person, carried out inquiries into what happened. The incident was reported to emergency services at 8.50pm. A police spokesperson said: “All trains passing through the area have been stopped to allow inquiries to take place.” Scotrail arranged for replacement bus services to take passengers from Inverness, Aviemore, Perth and Blair Atholl. The firm estimated that the disruption would last until about 10.30pm.
