Children are being put at risk by worn-away road markings outside their school, according to an Aberdeen MSP.
During the summer, Kevin Stewart demanded the urgent repainting of the speed limit signs and yellow zig-zags on the city’s Gray Street, outside Broomhill School.
Council bosses said the work was completed back in August, but an unimpressed Mr Stewart claims parts of the road have not been touched.
He is now calling for a full re-inspection of the area in order to keep youngsters out of harm’s way.
Mr Stewart said: “I was contacted by a parent who was concerned that the poor state of these road markings put children at risk.
“I think that’s still the case, with these road markings still barely visible.”
He added: “It seems bizarre that they’ve repainted some of the road markings around the school at short notice but left others.
“If it was important enough to do urgently then it was important enough to do properly.
“These markings were all put down to keep school pupils safe so it’s disappointing that they haven’t been maintained, especially after this was flagged up to the council.”
John Wheeler, convener of the city council’s operational delivery committee, said: “The work requested by Mr Stewart in August has been carried out.
“This new request for additional work will be considered and a response sent to Mr Stewart in due course.”
