Driver shortages again caused problems for north-east rail users yesterday as several services in and out of Aberdeen were scrapped.
Scotrail announced seven cancellations in the morning, with the first affecting customers who were scheduled to get the 7.46am train from Huntly to Aberdeen.
Four services between Aberdeen and Inverurie were disrupted during the day.
The 12.07pm Aberdeen to Edinburgh route was cancelled too, along with the train to Stonehaven at 4.38pm.
A Scotrail statement said: “We are carrying out a lot of staff and driver training at the moment, which will cause cancellations to some of our services.”
On Wednesday, a train between Aberdeen and Edinburgh was axed as the 5.15pm service from the Granite City to the Scottish capital ground to a halt in Dundee.
The cancellation was also blamed on a lack of staff but Scotrail has stressed that a newly-launched recruitment drive should help to reduce such problems in the future.
The company last week reached an agreement with the Scottish Government to hire 55 extra drivers and 30 conductors this year.
