Roads bosses could permanently lower the speed limit on a busy north-east road.
Aberdeenshire councillors will soon consider whether there should be a 40mph speed limit on a section of the South Deeside Road, near its junction with Milltimber Brae.
The stretch of the road was used by heavy goods traffic throughout the construction of the AWPR and was reduced to a 30mph limit due to safety concerns.
Now the restriction has been lifted and the road is back up to a 60mph limit, but now roads bosses are considering permanently reducing it.
The speed reduction will be discussed at a meeting of the Kincardine and Mearns area committee on May 21.
If councillors decide to move forward with the plan there will be a public consultation on the proposals.
