Trains to Aberdeen have been delayed tonight because of a signalling fault.
Services headed to the Granite City from Montrose, Edinburgh and Glasgow were affected by the issue, north of Stonehaven.
The 7.34pm train from the capital to Aberdeen was expected to be more than 40 minutes late, rail operator Scotrail said.
Network Rail Scotland engineers had been sent to investigate the fault – only affecting city-bound services – at around 10.45pm.
Scotrail did not expect delays to be an issue tomorrow morning.
A spokesman said: “We are dealing with a signalling issue in the Aberdeen area, this is causing delays to trains heading towards Aberdeen from Stonehaven.
“Our staff are on site and once we have more information from the ground we will keep you updated.
“Disruption is expected until the end of the day.”
