Transport chiefs are being encouraged to hold talks with an Aberdeen community hoping for a rail expansion.
Questions have been raised as to whether a new station could benefit people in the coastal suburb of Cove.
It was previously served by the railway for more than a century before its stop was pulled from the timetables in 1956.
But North East MSP, Liam Kerr, has now asked Transport Scotland to consider re-opening the station, following success doing the same in Laurencekirk in 2009.
In a letter to Transport Scotland, the Scottish Conservative said: “I fully believe Cove would benefit from a similar development, and timetable and budget permitting, provide a further way to boost Aberdeen’s green credentials, take passengers off the road, and provide an opportunity to boost the local economy.
“I would be pleased therefore to hear your view of a new station at Cove, what discussions have been had about the feasibility of such a development, and whether you would commit to meeting with members of the community to discuss such a proposal.”
