Thousands of train fares have been slashed by as much as half for the Great British Rail Sale
A man was taken to hospital earlier today after an incident near the train line between Aberdeen and Stonehaven.
The alarm was raised at 12.42pm and British Transport Police (BTP) officers, along with paramedics, went sent to the scene near Newtonhill library.
Services to both Glasgow and Edinburgh were affected after the line was closed while the incident was dealt with.
A BTP spokesman said: “Shortly before 12.45pm, officers were called to the railway close to Newtonhill following a report of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics and police attended and a man was safely removed from the tracks, it appears he is thankfully uninjured.
“Inquiries continue to understand why the man ended up on the tracks.”
An ambulance spokesman said: “We received a call at 12.50pm to assist a patient near Newtonhill Library. We dispatched one ambulance to the scene and transported a patient to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.”
Train services returned to normal by 3pm.
