A fallen tree remains hanging over one side of a busy Highland route, with a convoy system in place to allow traffic to pass through.
The tree, that had initially fallen, due to wind and rain, over both carriageways on the A82 Fort William to Inverness road, at Letter Finlay – earlier left drivers facing a round trip via Inverness to and the A9.
Stewart MacLean of the A82 partnership said the road was partially opened after 4.30pm, he said: “Police are now allowing single lane passing of the fallen tree near Letter Finlay.
“Traffic Management will be put in place to allow the rest of the tree to be removed, expect delays.”
A message from Transport Scotland earlier said: “The A82 is closed at Letter Finlay due to fallen tree blocking the carriageway in both directions. Road users should use the signed diversion route.”
On social media one man asked: “Any idea or guesses as to when this might clear up? Trying to decide to wait it out vs heading back up to Inverness. Got a train to catch in Edinburgh.”
