Trains between Aberdeen and Dundee are delayed and facing cancellation due to a body being found on the lines.

Emergency services are currently on site between Dundee and Broughty Ferry following a report of a body.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Police responded to reports of a body being found on the railway lines between Dundee and Broughty Ferry at around 10.37am this morning.”

“We are still looking into the circumstances into how the person came to be at the location – the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

“Efforts are ongoing to locate the person’s next of kin and a report will be prepared for the coroner.”

ScotRail took to social media to confirm they were dealing with the unspecified incident, a statement said: “The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Dundee and Arbroath.

“This will affect all services between the Central Belt, Dundee & Aberdeen.”

Services are beginning to return to normal with services now able to run between Dundee and Aberdeen.

Replacement buses will remain in place to supplement services during the restoration of the train service.
