Signal faults and electrical failures are causing delays for commuters departing from Inverness today
Train services from the Highland capital to Glasgow and Edinburgh are being delayed by up to 40 minutes due to three separate signal faults near Perth.
Network Rail engineers have been sent to fix the problem that has been ongoing since 7.30am.
Services from Inverness and Wick are also being affected by an electrical shortage on the line. A bus replacement is now in place.
A ScotRail statement said: “We are dealing with a signalling issues at various locations which means services are being delayed between Perth and Inverness.
“Our staff are onsite, however they need more time [to fix the issue].”
