Parts of Aberdeen have been left in darkness after electricity outages.
SSE confirmed more than 225 homes on Union Street and streets to the south, towards the Clayhills sub-station had been cut off – known issues are in the AB11 postcode area.
A high voltage trip at around 3.3opm caused the fault, a spokeswoman said.
By 6pm, 13o homes and businesses had been reconnected to the grid but the city’s main thoroughfare remained in darkness.
The spokeswoman added power to the remaining 97 properties was expected to have been restored by 5.30pm.
This was later pushed back to 7.30pm.
Some of the roads affected include Union Street, Belmont Street, Back Wynd, Market Street, Bridge Street, The Green, South College Street, Windmill Brae, Upper Denburn, Trinity Street and Guild Street.
City centre businesses, including a number of night spots expecting a busy Halloween weekend trade, were left turning customers away.
Belmont Street bar Siberia posted on Facebook: “Currently in the grips of the power cut.
“(We) will be open fully once the power is back on. Expected return to normal at 7:30pm.”
Slain’s Castle, on the other side of the same street, posted: “Sadly Slain’s is shut due to a power cut.
“We’d love to be open but that would take a lot of candles!”
Power has since been re-connected at the Belmont Street pub.
Train delaysÂ
Aberdeen train station has also been affected by the power outage with numerous delays to services due to a signalling error.
A ScotRail statement said: “There’s been a failure of the electricity supply which powers the signal box at Aberdeen station. It’s affecting the surrounding area, and means services are being delayed departing the station.
“Network Rail engineers are working closely with the energy supplier, who are working to fix the wider fault in the local area, just in case there are any issues when the supply is restored.”
Services are still being disrupted to and from Aberdeen by around 20 minutes.
