Sinkhole causing travel disruption for north-east train passengers

Train passengers travelling from the north-east to Edinburgh are facing disruption today due to a sinkhole.

The issue, discovered at Leuchars, has caused a “dip to open up below one of the lines”.

A tweet from Network Rail said it is around 3ft deep and will require three tonnes of ballast to fill.

The line towards Edinburgh has been closed and disruption is expected for the rest of the day.
