Estate agents are offering the chance to purchase a stunning former Aberdeen railway station.
Back in 1854, the ticket hall at Gartly Station buzzed with activity and its frequent trains were a lifeline to the rural residents of the area, who used the railway to travel around the north-east with ease.
Yet 100 years later whole lines began closing and station buildings shut up shop – many of them subsequently bulldozed.
Gartly Station is one of a handful of the former stations in Scotland that was saved and transformed into a home.
Now marketed by McEwan and Fraser for £220,000, the buildings’ new inhabitants could get the chance to live among history.
The kitchen is where the stationmaster’s office once was, and a waiting area adjacent to the platform is now the formal dining room.
The main bedroom was once the ladies waiting room, while the living room was the gentlemen’s waiting room.
Outside, grass and flower beds now lie where the former platform once was.
