Danny Alexander revealed yesterday that the Scottish Council for Development and Industry, Highlands and Islands Airports, Mr Burns and MSPs Jean Urquhart, John Finnie and Mary Scanlon had accepted his invitation to join a forum on the A9 average-speed cameras.
The UK Government’s chief secretary to the Treasury said the forum would be an outlet for all the people and businesses with concerns about the cameras that who being “ignored” by the Scottish Government.
But Dave Thompson, SNP MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, who rejected the invitation to join the forum, said the latest driver speed figures showed Highland MP Mr Alexander was “totally out of line”.
He said: “Danny Alexander must now stop his political posturing on this issue in a desperate attempt to save his seat next year.
“He should accept the evidence – and back the Scottish Government’s plans to improve safety on the A9,” he said.
