Members of the public are being given the opportunity to view the plans for the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route (AWPR) at a series of public events.
The exhibitions, which launched yesterday in Altens, are taking place at 10 locations across the city and the surrounding area over the next two weeks.
Work is expected to start on the new road in autumn, following the appointment of Connect Roads as the preferred bidder earlier this month.
The displays will feature details of the route, as well as the scheme’s wider benefits, progress on the preparations for construction work, and measures to minimise the environmental impact.
Transport Minister Keith Brown said: “Earlier this month, we announced that Connect Roads had been appointed as preferred bidder for the AWPR project. This is great news for the people of the north-east and a very timely reminder that this road is coming, and soon.
“These exhibitions will give people a chance to remind themselves of the plans we have for the road and find out what it will mean for them.
“From bringing in an additional £6billion to the local economy and generating around 900 construction jobs, to improving safety and cutting congestion – the benefits of this project are very substantial.
“As the project is now in its final stages prior to general construction, I would encourage communities and road users to take the opportunity to visit these exhibitions and remind themselves of the plans for this project.”
The exhibition features images of how the AWPR will look in situ and describes the route of the new road, which includes 12 junctions, two river crossings, an underbridge for the Aberdeen-Inverness railway, four major pipeline crossings and three wildlife bridges.
Members of the public will be able to view the presentation at the Holiday Inn in Westhill today, the New Inn in Ellon tomorrow, and Culter Village Hall on Thursday.
It will travel to the AECC on Friday and begin next week at the Music Hall on Monday.
The Old Mill Inn in Maryculter will host the exhibition on Tuesday, before it moves to the Newmachar Hotel on Wednesday.
It will then finish at the Stonehaven Recreation Grounds Club on Thursday and Dyce Community Centre on Friday.
The exhibition is open each day from noon until 7pm, and members of the project team will be in attendance each day to answer questions.
