British Transport Police officers are appealing for information after a railway excavator was vandalised in the Highlands.
A hole was punched into the fuel tank and a quantity of diesel stolen.
The vehicle was parked close to the Ballachraggin level crossing, less than two miles from Alness.
The incident took place between 4.30am and 4pm on Thursday.
PC Mark Laurie, of BTP, who is in charge of the inquiry, said: “The location is adjacent to the B817 Skiach to Alness Road, which is a pretty busy road, and I’m appealing for anyone who was in the area between the times and saw anyone acting suspiciously to contact BTP.”
Anyone with information can contact BTP contacted on 0800 405040. Information can be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
