Motorists on the busy A96 Inverness-Aberdeen road face disruption for the next two weeks because of a major resurfacing project.
Transport Scotland will start work at Tornagrain at 7.30pm tonight, with traffic lights controlling traffic between the Torngrain junction and Inverness Airport.
Work will continue between 7.30pm and 6.30am for five nights.
A second scheme will start on Sunday, August 10, between the Gollanfield junction and the junction between the A96 road and the B9006 road to Culloden.
The two projects will cost a total of £450,000.
Temporary traffic lights system of traffic management will be in place with a 30mph speed limit each night. This is to ensure the safety of the workforce and motorists.
Andy Thompson, Bear Scotland’s north east unit representative, said: “These essential improvement works are being carried out at night to help minimise delays and disruption on this busy section of the A96. We would ask that drivers plan their journey and provide extra time for travel during these works.”
The works are being carried out by Breedon Aggregates Ltd and Euromark on behalf of Bear Scotland.
