All rail services between Aberdeen and Inverness have been cancelled due to adverse weather.
Scotrail cancelled all trains on the line as of 10am due to “flooding and debris”, with some of the flooding is at it’s worst around Elgin and Kingussie.
Train services leaving Inverness have been worst hit by delays and cancellations due to flooding on the line.
A Scotrail spokeswoman said: “There are no services between Aberdeen and Inverness, as of 10am we have suspended any services between the two cities.
“We did try and run some between Inverness and Nairn but there was too much debris and flooding on the line.”
Earlier this morning, flooding on the line at Elgin and Huntly led to problems for north east commuters with services between Inverness and Aberdeen either delayed or terminated at Elgin and restarted from Keith at short notice.
A bus replacement service is in place for Scotrail passengers travelling on this route.
Flooding on the line at Kingussie means services to Glasgow, Edinburgh and Perth have also been affected with limited information available at this time.
A statement on Scotrail’s JourneyCheck website said: “Train services between Inverness and Perth may be cancelled, delayed or revised at short notice.
“An estimate for the resumption of normal services will be provided as soon as the problem has been fully assessed.
“Alternative transport cannot be guaranteed”
